With an increasing number of companies focusing on planning their business and financial goals well in advance, the scope for professionals in the field of finance and accounting.
In keeping with this, the UK-based Staffordshire University is offering a Master’s in accounting and finance.
Designed for graduates of accounting, finance or business management courses, this course explores a contemporary approaches and theories in the areas of accounting and finance, both academically and professionally. The programme helps students develop expertise through independent investigation and creative critical thinking, preparing the students to undertake further research in accounting and finance.
The key modules of the course include financial reporting and analysis, management control and internal audit, business research methods, advanced corporate finance, accounting theory, international finance and economic analysis of the firm. The final semester concludes with an individual research-based dissertation which allows students to enhance their knowledge by exploring an area of interest which supports their career ambitions. On completion of the programme, the students will be able to demonstrate a systematic awareness, understanding and knowledge of contemporary corporate accounting and finance theory, research and professional practice within a global context.
Upon completion of the one- year programme, students can pursue doctoral studies. Candidates who wish to apply for the course must have a second class honors’ degree or equivalent in accounting/finance/business management and an overall IELTS score of 6.0 with minimum of 5.5 in speaking, writing, reading and listening.
The course fee is set at £12,000. A New Merit Scholarship of up to £2,000 is available to Indian students enrolling for the first time in September 2016. The last date to apply to the course is July 31.
